Stage 32 and Evoke Entertainment Launch Rom-Com Writer Contest

Stage 32 is collaborating with Evoke Entertainment to discover the next talented romantic-comedy screenwriter through a new writing competition.

Through their collaboration, Stage 32's worldwide entertainment community platform and Evoke's production division are strengthening their alliance with the Rom-Com Screenwriting Competition, an innovative initiative designed to accelerate new writers from recognition to career growth and film production.

Applications are accepted starting in February, with Evoke involved in the final judging process, evaluating the loglines of semi-finalists and reading all 10 finalist scripts. Semi-finalists will be revealed on June 19, finalists on July 3, and the winner on July 24, determined by originality and market potential.

Evoke will accelerate the winner's script through the development process, preparing it for presentation to studios, streaming platforms, and networks, while Stage 32 will offer detailed script development assistance.

"This collaboration with Evoke provides a genuine pathway for writers to transition from being unknown to having their work produced, and it closely matches our goal of making the entertainment industry more open and based on merit," said Geoffroy Faugerolas, head of development at Stage 32.

Evoke CEO Stan Spry, who helped establish the literary management and production company formerly called Cartel Entertainment, stated, “For more than ten years, we have been creating romantic comedies, and during this period, the interest in uplifting content has continued to increase. Audiences around the globe appreciate what this genre provides, and we are thrilled to collaborate with Stage 32 to discover new talents and support screenwriters who share our enthusiasm for this area.”

Having 1.5 million members globally, Stage 32 has helped numerous new talents secure representation contracts, options, and production agreements. In the last year, Evoke has created nine romantic comedies and several series, producing content for Hallmark, Lifetime, Netflix, Tubi, Great American Family, and other platforms.
