Polestar 2 Gets a New Look, Polestar 4 Adds Real Rear Window

Polestar has ambitious goals, and starting Wednesday, the brand is no longer hesitant to reveal them, as it recently unveiled a product roadmap detailing the electric vehicle manufacturer's strategies up to 2028 this morning.

The next upcoming launch that is set to arrive is the Polestar 5, a four-door grand touring vehicle andPorsche Taycan rival that Polestar already revealed. It is set to start deliveries in the summer of 2026, meaning the wait will not be much longer for what is likely Polestar's most thrilling fully electric production car to date.

Up next, Polestar states that it is going to unveila Polestar 4variant "aiming to attract a broader range of customers by providing greater flexibility." This vehicle will be unveiled later this year, with shipments anticipated as early as the fourth quarter of 2026. Specific information remains confidential, although Polestar is strongly suggesting a blend of a station wagon and an SUV.

Sweden is well-known for its station wagons, and its sport utility vehicles are top-notch," said Michael Lohscheller, CEO of Polestar. "We are merging the spaciousness of a station wagon with the flexibility of an SUV, along with the dynamic performance that Polestar is known for.

Photos posted to RedditA camouflaged Polestar 4-based test vehicle supports this theory. The teaser (above) provided by Polestar indicates what might be a higher roofline, more similar to an SUV, in contrast to the lower and more sporty standard 4. In even more significant news, this version seems to feature a rear window.

The Polestar 2is also set to return. The company's first electric sedan wasdiscontinuedFollowing the 2025 model year, high tariffs are considered responsible. Nevertheless, Polestar intends to introduce a new generation, launching "early in 2027." The teaser (below) for the 2 indicates it will not resemble the current model, particularly in the front, featuring entirely new headlights and an otherwise unrecognizable front end. It appears slightly shorter and narrower than the 4—what is expected, given that the 2 is Polestar's smallest vehicle.

The Polestar 2 is the cornerstone of our brand, having sold more than 190,000 units and built a passionate group of owners," Lohscheller stated. "Introducing the next version of this renowned vehicle at an impressive pace, by the beginning of next year, is truly thrilling. The car that helped establish our reputation will be crucial to our future achievements.

The final vehicle mentioned here is thePolestar 7, a small SUV set to debut in 2028. This vehicle is much further along in development compared to the others, and Polestar, as expected, has provided minimal information about it. The teaser images indicate a crossover that is slightly higher than the upcoming Polestar 4 SUV version. It also features a more conventional, upright front design typically associated with SUVs, in contrast to the sleek, sloping styles that Polestar has commonly used. So far, the only details Polestar has shared about the 7 are that it will be a "performance-focused vehicle at an appealing price," and it will be manufactured in Europe.
