On Friday, February 20,Peoplenoted that Kotb will take over for Savannah during the week beginning Monday, February 23.

Kotb exited Todayin January 2025 following almost 20 years on the program, but has remained a regular presence. Similar to Savannah and her co-host,Craig Melvin, Kotb was scheduled to travel to Italy earlier this month to assist with coverage of the2026 Winter Olympicsfor NBC. Following Nancy's disappearance, all three hostsdropped outof their Olympic roles. The change in hosting also occurred as reports surfaced about the networkboosted security on the Today set.

Earlier in the week, the hosts startedwearing yellow ribbon pinswith a flower at the center in memory of Nancy, as well as adornedToday'S Studio 1A with yellow blossoms, just as Nancy's neighbors and fellow Tucson, Arizona, residents have put by her house.
Kotb even markedthe 20th day of Nancy's vanishing featuring a picture of Savannah with her mother throughInstagramon Friday. She added to the post, “Bring her back home.”
Nancy was last spotted at her residence on January 31 and went missing the next day. NBC News' Liz Kreutz has provided the most recent developments on the case, reporting live from Tucson onTodaythis week, notifying audiences that law enforcement officials arecanvassing local gun shopsand are employing genetic genealogy to identify unknown DNA discovered at Nancy's residence. Nevertheless, authorities are restricted to using public DNA databases and cannot access those maintained by major corporations like Ancestry and 23andMe.
Furthermore, a firearms expert informed Kreutz that the suspect seen in Nancy's security video was wearing what appeared to be a "universal fit holster," suggesting the suspect might be an "amateur" who is "highly knowledgeable about guns." The Pima County Sheriff's Department's 9-1-1 dispatch center has also addedfour additional individuals per shiftas they keep getting thousands of leads connected to the investigation.
