Jamie Lee Curtis has spoken out regarding her connection with Lindsay Lohan , emphasizing that although they have a strong connection, they are "not best friends"

The two captivated audiences as the charming mother-daughter couple in the popular film Freaky Friday. Now, anticipation is building as they reunite for the highly awaited follow-up to Freakier Friday , set for release in cinemas on August 8.

Curtis talked about the new movie and her relationship with Lohan when she appeared on Thursday's (July 31) edition of ITV's morning program. This Morning , hosted by Dermot O'Leary and Rochelle Humes, reports the Manchester Evening News .

She said, "I've portrayed mothers in the past, and I truly feel a sense of duty as an adult—that when dealing with someone who isn't yet grown-up, you don't simply collaborate and then say 'so long,' but instead aim to remain reasonably consistent."

Thinking back to their long-lasting friendship that has lasted over twenty years, Curtis said, "Lindsey and I have remained connected since she was 15, so I was part of her teenage years and into her 20s; I’ve known her for a long time."

She mentioned that even though Lohan relocated to Dubai, got married, and had a child, their bond stayed strong: "She then moved out of state and settled in Dubai, where she met her husband and eventually had a baby — she brought the infant to me."

Curtis also shared the trigger for the new *Freaky Friday* initiative: "It was when she came over and we took a photo together, which truly sparked the *Freaky Friday* excitement."

She explained the public's response: "The excitement occurred because I shared a photo of myself with Lindsay, and people assumed 'are you two filming' when things actually started happening."

The actress openly stated, "We've been together and cared for each other for a long period, but I won't act like we're close friends — we aren't, and we don't talk every day."

She said, "She's really skilled with the Bitmoji and constantly reminds me that I'm on her mind. Suddenly, I'll receive something from her that says 'I love you and I'm thinking of you.'"

In the soon-to-be-released film Freakier Friday, Lindsay once again takes on the role of Anna, who is now grown up and has a teenage daughter played by Julia Butters, while Jamie Lee Curtis comes back as Tess, Anna's lively mother, now assuming the part of a quirky grandmother.

The follow-up aims to bring back the original movie's blend of charm and humor, exploring shifts between different eras through a modern perspective.

The movie Freakier Friday will be released in theaters on Friday, August 8.
