Suspicious Car Seen Near Maryland Home Before Fire, Authorities Report

A car suspected of being involved was seen departing the scene shortly before a home caught fire late Saturday night in Cecil County, according to firefighters.

A fire started at 10:42 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, within a two-level residential house located on the 5800 block of Telegraph Road in Elkton, as reported by the Maryland State Fire Marshal on Monday.

A fire that resulted in approximately $1,000 worth of damage was found by a nearby resident, according to authorities.

The residence lacked a smoke detector, and neither fire alarms nor sprinkler systems were installed, they mentioned. No one was injured.

Approximately 40 fire personnel from the Singerly Fire Company and neighboring agencies worked for over three hours to contain the fire.

The origin of the blaze is still being looked into.
