How to Cool Down an Overheating Car

In recent months, "Mendte in the Morning" has examined every indicator light that appears on your vehicle's dashboard. Every one of these warnings holds equal significance and can present dangers for drivers who choose to overlook them; therefore, it's crucial to familiarize yourself with each of these indicators and understand what steps to take if any illuminate in your car. Ron Ananian, host of 'The Car Doctor' on the iHeartRadio application, discusses with Mendte in the Morning the issue of an over-heating engine and methods for addressing it.
If the [coolant temperature] indicator light illuminates, or if your temperature gauge shows the engine is overheating, stop the vehicle," Ananian advises host Larry Mendte. "Do not lift the hood; there isn't much you can do at this point. Allow the car to rest for about thirty to forty-five minutes.
Ananian outlined several steps you can follow to get ready for this warning light to appear: "You should be aware of where your coolant reservoir is located... perhaps when traveling long distances, we keep a gallon of coolant designed for the car, or at minimum, water, just to have something in case of an emergency."
