**"New Face of Beauty: Meet Miss South Dakota 2025"** Let me know if you'd like variations with a different tone or style!

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - South Dakota is famous for its wonderful people and beautiful locations. Every week, KOTA Territory showcases an outstanding individual from the community. This week, we feature the new Miss South Dakota.

Jamee Kattner never imagined herself as Miss South Dakota growing up, but after being confused with Hunter Widvey, the 2022 titleholder, while subbing at a school, she thought she'd take a shot at it.

"I believe it demonstrates to young women how to become leaders and aids in discovering your true self," Kattner stated.

Kattner began entering beauty contests just slightly more than a year back, she mentioned that for this year's regional contest, she focused on completing volunteer work and remaining true to her genuine self.

"I genuinely made an effort to stay authentic to myself, and I believe that ultimately helped me," Kattner said.

Prior to winning the title of Miss South Dakota, Kattner completed her studies at South Dakota State University, earning a degree in music education.

I sing. I hope to become a choir instructor after this, and it has truly been the highlight of my life," Kattner stated. "Music has been.

Kattner hails from a family with a strong background in music teaching, as her mother and grandmother were both involved in educating others through music. Additionally, her sisters obtained degrees in music education.

I believe I resisted it because I was the youngest child and I didn't want to end up like my sister," Kattner chuckled. "You can struggle against something for a while, but if it's genuinely something you're passionate about, that's ultimately how things turned out for me.

She mentioned that her passion for music and education matches the values of the Miss America organization.

I want to become an educator because I hope to inspire the younger generation," said Kattner. "Throughout my life, I've been influenced by numerous teachers who helped shape who I am today, and I wouldn't have become this person without them. I believe that highlights just how powerful educators can be for future generations, which also aligns with the mission of the Miss America organization.

Kattner mentioned that life has been hectic ever since she won the title, yet she remains determined to accomplish all of her goals.

She mentioned she is looking forward to showcasing the state of South Dakota in an uplifting manner on the Miss America platform beginning August 30.

Alongside meeting all these amazing young women, those relationships will last me a lifetime regardless of where my path leads," Kattner stated. "I certainly hope to become a teacher, but perhaps I'll connect with another educator from Alabama and create something extraordinary together. I'm genuinely thrilled about that sense of sisterhood across the country.

She mentioned that if she had the chance to speak with herself just before beginning her journey in beauty competitions, she would tell her that she can accomplish anything she sets her mind to through effort and perseverance.

I would have been content even without winning, but I'm still very thankful for having won," Kattner stated. "I mean, reminding myself 'advocate for yourself in the most effective manner and whatever occurs, that's what was meant to be.'
