HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WHNT — The radio station Worship 94.5 reported on Sunday that Hundley Batts Sr., a previous general manager of North Alabama radio, has passed away.

In profound sadness and with sincere respect, we mourn the loss of our cherished and valiant leader, Hundley Batts, Sr., who passed away at the age of 81. He gently left this world on Sunday, July 12, 2025.
Batts frequently remarked, "I intend to keep working until I feel exhausted. And I don't get worn out quickly." Excellent job, Mr. Batts. Truly well done.

Batts and his deceased wife, Dr. Virginia Caples, were the owners of WEUP FM the first African American-owned and managed radio station in Alabama.
He was honored with induction into the Hall of Fame for Alabama Broadcasters Association in 2019 .
