Trojan Horse GT: 1,000 HP Chinese Secret Shaking the Luxury SUV Market

Xiaomi has officially launched the YU7 GT, a powerful deviceelectricAn SUV making its entrance into the 1,000-horsepower performance electric vehicle category, boasting a maximum speed of 186 mph, placing it among the quickest mass-produced electric SUVs that have been revealed.
OOn March 6, 2026, it was announced that the YU7 GT has been listed in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology regulatory catalog, indicating a broader body design and significant performance improvements compared to the regular YU7 models, highlighting Xiaomi's expansion into the high-performance SUV market.
The dual-motor system combines a 386 hp motor at the front with a 603 hp motor at the rear, resulting in a total of 990 hp, which is an increase from the 681 hp found in the YU7 Max. Industry projections suggest a 0–62 mph acceleration time just over 2 seconds. In terms of appearance, the YU7 GT features a more expansive design, with the body extended by 0.6 inches in length and 0.4 inches in width. It also includes 21-inch staggered wheels, red brake calipers, a larger rear diffuser, and unique GT exterior badges.
The SUV is confirmed to be equipped with a CATL ternary lithium battery, although details regarding its capacity remain undisclosed. Industry experts anticipate a price range of 60,000 to 70,000 USD, positioning the YU7 GT beneath the tri-motor 1,526-hp SU7 Ultra sedan. Xiaomi aims to expand its electric vehicle lineup in 2026 with the introduction of the YU7 GT, along with the more spacious YU9 SUV and the long-wheelbase SU7 L sedan.
After the April 2024 launch of its initial electric vehicle, Xiaomi experienced swift growth, with YU7 sales reaching 153,673 units in 2025. Industry analysts suggest that entering the high-performance EV market could greatly enhance the brand's standing compared to leading global car manufacturers likeTesla, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.
