Residents flock to car washes after Thursday's storm
ELLISVILLE, Missouri – Some residents awoke this morning to find their vehicles and windows marked with spots following storms that swept through the region yesterday.
Numerous residents of St. Louis went to nearby car washes to restore their vehicles to a clean state before the weekend.
What led to the grim situation? Polluted precipitation.
It occurred due to rain mixing with blowing dust and wildfire smoke that was transported from the southern plains. The rain returned to the ground, leaving the dust behind.
"It's all covered in spots. It's all messy. We're getting it cleaned properly right now," said Vondrei Walker, a client at Tidal Wave Wash Center.
The dirt layer was causing a surge in business on Friday afternoon.
"Oh yeah, with all the dirty rain we've experienced and the bad weather we've had over the past few days. We've had a lot of cars coming in. It's been really hectic. Everyone is happy, customers are happy, and everyone is happy with a happy car," said employee Jacob Deck.
Staff members from a local car dealership transported some of the vehicles, helping to get everything cleaned up before the weekend rush.
"We bring them here and run them through the car wash. They always take care of us. And make sure our cars look good for deliveries or even to show someone," said Jeremy Guijosa from Bo Beuckman Ford.
It's a weekend solution for a car wash and wax.
"Friday is a great day to clean your car and then come over here to enjoy a spotless vehicle. When you go out to a party or any event, wherever you are," said Azfar Malki, one of the owners of Tidal Wave Wash Center.
