Nissan Recalls 318,781 Rogue SUVs Over Faulty Throttle Bodies

  • Nissan is recalling 318,781 Rogue SUVs equipped with electronic throttle body gears that could potentially break.
  • A diagnostic test that executes during startup could lead to a component inside the Electronic Throttle Chamber (ETC) becoming damaged or breaking, which might immobilize the vehicle.
  • The recall includes a large number of Rogue SUVs from the 2024 and 2025 model years. Nissan believes all members of the affected group are impacted by the problem.

Nissan is issuing a recall for a significant number of Rogue SUVs from the 2024 and 2025 model years, amounting to 318,781 vehicles. All affected cars have electronic throttle body gears that are more likely to break.

All vehicles in the recall are fitted with Nissan's 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine. As perpapers submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration(The NHTSA) triggers a diagnostic test during the ignition start-up process in the Electronic Throttle Body, causing a series of internal gears to move to the fully closed position, thereby pressing against a stationary stop.

The documentation related to the recall states that the Engine Control Module (ECM) in the affected vehicles is using software that may lead to the internal gears in the ETC assembly becoming weak or breaking over time. Should an internal gear in the ETC fail, it could disrupt other gears, possibly preventing the engine from delivering any forward or reverse power.

Nissan reported 3111 warranty claims associated with the recall, but the company has no knowledge of any accidents or injuries caused by the problem. Dealers will be directed to reprogram the ECM and check the ETC for possible replacement. Owners will receive notification letters on March 27, 2026, asking them to take their vehicle to a Nissan dealership for the necessary repairs. The affected VINs can be looked up on the NHTSA website.here.
