Lexus IS to Get New EV Generation After Three Facelifts

The Lexus IS, which avoided demise to come back for the 2026 model year, might prolong its existence with an electric propulsion system.
As per a statement from a Japanese sourceBest Car, Lexus intends to introduce an electric new-generation IS at some point in 2027.
The lineup is anticipated to include both single and dual-motor configurations, with the dual-motor option expected to deliver approximately 500 horsepower.

The Lexus IS could be receiving another rescue. While anUltimate EditionWas expected to mark the end of the model in 2025, the luxury sedan was ultimately updated for 2026 with another redesign. The report indicates that the IS EV will largely draw its inspiration from the 2023 LF-ZC concept. The upcoming IS won't be the first Lexus sedan to be influenced by the LF-ZC, as the newES sedanintroduced for the 2026 model year features comparable design elements.

Many aspects of the electric IS remain unclear, but the report highlights several key points. The updated model is anticipated to be approximately 188.5 inches in length, three inches longer than the current version, yet still much shorter than the newest ES.
