Lamborghini Urus SE Performante Unleashes Power in Snowy Testing

Call this one Urus Maritimus. The spy photographers have captured images of a Lamborghini testing a new variant of its high-performance SUV near the North Pole. They refer to it as theUrus SEEfficient, combining the SE's plug-in hybrid system with Performante features such as a new suspension and aerodynamic enhancements.

A Close Examination of a Cold Bull

Often, these prototypes are spotted in motion or during a brief halt. This time, the Urus test drive team was dining. Suitable for some bullfighters, it was at a steakhouse in Arjeplog, Sweden, near the northernmost part of the country. This allowed our agents to get an excellent view of the new SUV.

Numerous noticeable modifications distinguish this model from the standard Urus SE. The carbon fiber fender flares are the most obvious, but as we examine the SUV further, there are many other differences. A higher rear ducktail spoiler and a larger, new wing on top of the hatch. The vents behind the rear wheels have been redesigned and expanded, along with alterations to the front bumper, which all contribute to its distinct appearance from a regular SE.

Check out the new wheels for the most noticeable update. This Urus features bigger carbon ceramic brake pads and rotors, indicating enhanced performance ahead.

It's more intense, which is precisely what Lamborghini customers seek. You don't purchase a Urus to remain unnoticed – for that, the VW Group provides theAudi RSQ8or Porsche Cayenne. We haven't received specific details yet regarding its horsepower, but Lamborghini wouldn't equip it with larger brakes and a Performante label without increasing its power.

SE Performant Will Combine Two Very Different Vehicles

Lamborghini introduced the SE model in 2024. The 611-horsepower iteration of the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine wasequipped with an electric motor to achieve a total of 789 horsepower. However, it added approximately 650 pounds compared to the non-plugged S due to the substantial PHEV battery and electric motor. It was faster, but not particularly more agile.

The SE replaced the S, but it also replaced the old Performante. ThePerformante generated 657 horsepower from the V8 engine.and provided greater downforce, a fixed-height coil suspension rather than air suspension, and featured high-performance tires instead of off-road driving modes. Along with a more rear-focused all-wheel drive system, it earned the title of super-SUV.

A Urus SE Performante would combine the high-performance elements of the Performante with the increased power of the SE. This results in significant power, a more rigid track-focused suspension, and the capability to drive through town quietly. Alternatively, depending on your location, it could help you avoid traffic fees. If it features the Performante's V8 engine, the power output might reach around 850 horsepower, making it the most powerful Urus to date.

The Urus we truly hope to see produced, however, isn't the one in camouflage. We can't ignore Rescue Car 1, a Urus 60th anniversary edition modified for rallying andsave other Lambos that have encountered issues during testing.

Tires with spikes, protective netting for the front air intakes, and a winch bumper equipped with shields that appear capable of handling a real bull are just the beginning. It features a large roof rack for transporting tires and shovels, and its suspension is adjusted to provide maximum ground clearance.

We can expect an official launch later this year.
