Imran Khan Hospitalized as Health Fears Grow

Previous Pakistan captain and Prime MinisterImran KhanHe will be transferred to a hospital due to increasing worries about his health. A government minister, Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, stated on X, previously known as Twitter, that "taking into account his health, it has been decided to move him to the hospital and establish a medical board." The choice was made under growing pressure from the opposition on the government, who have conducted a parliamentary sit-in at Parliament House until proper medical treatment is given to Imran. The protest is now in its second day.

Wasim Akram and Waqar Younishave prompted demands for Imran to receive proper medical care while in prison, following reports that he has lost most of the vision in his right eye. The 73-year-old has been held in near solitary confinement for several months and has experienced an eye infection, which his legal team says has caused significant vision impairment.

Imran's legal representatives have also claimed that his worsening health is a result of the government's neglect. Government officials have refuted these allegations.

It's heartbreaking to learn about our captain Imran Khan facing health challenges," said Wasim, who has mentioned Imran as the greatest influence on his career, on X, previously known as Twitter. "I truly hope the authorities treat this with the seriousness it deserves and provide him with the highest quality medical treatment. I wish him strength, a quick recovery, and a complete return to good health.

Waqar, who has also praised Imran's impact on his own career, shared a message shortly thereafter. "Setting politics aside, our national hero who brought us immense glory through sports, a cancer hospital that has assisted many, including my own mother, is facing a health crisis and needs immediate treatment. I respectfully ask the relevant authorities to ensure he receives proper care in a timely fashion. Get well soon, skipper."

Shoaib AkhtarEarlier on Saturday, he mentioned that he had spent the past three months in the United States working to raise money for the Shaukat Khanum Cancer Hospital, a facility that Imran funded and constructed in memory of his mother, who passed away from cancer. "I am very saddened to hear about his loss of vision in one eye," Shoaib stated. "I hope he receives the best possible treatment and I wish him a quick recovery."

Shahid Afridistated that the right to medical access was a "fundamental right and must be provided".Ramiz Raja, who took the catch off Imran's delivery that secured Pakistan's victory in the 1992 World Cup, and later became PCB chairman while Imran was Prime Minister, expressed his hope that "humanity wins out." "Watching Imran Khan endure hardship and lose sight in one eye is an emotional breakdown," he wrote.

Mohammad Hafeezhas also participated in calls expressing good wishes for Imran and requesting proper medical care to be offered.

The calls have not been limited to Pakistan, with a former India playerAjay Jadejaurging Pakistan's cricketers to demonstrate their backing for Imran on Friday.

Imran was taken into custody in August 2023 and received multiple prison terms for a variety of charges, which he and his followers have claimed are politically driven.
