A 28-year-old ophthalmology resident states that the traumatic incident in Thailand "redefined restoration and renewal" as she progresses through her recovery.

Three months following a harrowing tumble during the Miss Universe preliminary event,Miss Jamaica Gabrielle Henry is opening up about the road back.

Henry, who participated in the 2025 Miss Universe competition held in Bangkok, Thailand, posted pictures from her hospital bed on Friday (February 13), providing an honest glimpse into the consequences of the on-stage incident that resulted in significant injuries. In the photos shared on Instagram, the 28-year-old ophthalmology resident is shown resting in bed with an IV in her arm and a blood pressure cuff around her sleeve.

This season has changed my understanding of recovery and rebirth," she wrote in the caption. "During a period when I simply wanted to showcase Jamaica to the best of my ability, I encountered the most surprising injury of my life. It completely altered everything.

Henry stumbled during the evening gown competition.during the preliminary competition in November 2025. She became unconscious and was taken to Paolo Rangsit Hospital in Thailand. Reports from that time indicated she had a broken bone, facial cuts, and a brain bleed.

The alarming situation swiftly brought attention back to the homeland. Jamaica's Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment, and Sport, Olivia Grange, openly showed her backing, stating, "The whole nation is praying for you, Gabrielle, and hoping for a complete and quick recovery."

In her most recent update, Henry shared her thoughts on how the incident changed her viewpoint.

However, I have discovered that a fall can reveal a level of strength you weren't aware you had," she wrote. "My strongest moment has been in deciding to get back up, even though I'm still in the process.

Alongside the hospital photos, Henry posted a video of herself wearing sportswear, cycling on a stationary bike with one hand on her knee, serving as a reminder that healing is a continuous journey. She acknowledged the medical staff in both Thailand and Jamaica for supporting her throughout the process.

I am truly thankful for the medical professionals who keep supporting me," she wrote. "From neurosurgeons and neurologists to nurses and physical therapists, both in Thailand and Jamaica, each has been essential." "Their treatment, accuracy, and consistent support have helped me get through times of doubt.

Henry concluded her message with a sense of determination, presenting the event not as a conclusion, but as a pivotal moment.

What occurred was not an end; it signified the start of constructing a more robust legacy, generating influence, and making a significant impression," she wrote. "I continue to be dedicated to bringing honor to my nation and to motivating every individual I meet along the journey.

Her fellow competitors stood by her in the comments. Miss Universe Argentina 2025 Aldana Masset wrote, “You're incredibly strong, my queen. Sending you lots of hugs and kisses from far away,” while Miss Universe Indonesia 2025 Sanly Liu added, “My strong queen. I miss you and send you my prayers always.”

For Henry, the runway incident that shocked viewers has transformed into something different: a section of his story shaped more by the resolve to rise again than by the fall itself.
