Ex-Workers Expose Dirty Conditions at Lake Charles Wendy’s

LAKE CHARLES, Louisiana (KPLC) - A health inspection conducted by the Louisiana Department of Health at the Wendy’s located in Downtown Lake Charles revealed unclean conditions, including the presence of rats.

Previous employees from 7News mentioned that they were unable to continue working in the unhealthy environment. They provided us with images of food items that had been disturbed by rats and traps located beneath the kitchen appliances.

Their claims are supported by a February 4 report from the Louisiana Department of Health, which was looking into a complaint on the same day it carried out a regular inspection.

Both inspections identified the presence of rodents at the business.

These infractions were classified as urgent, indicating they need to be fixed right away, and ongoing violations could result in disciplinary measures or license revocations.

LDH stated that serious violations, if not addressed, are more prone to lead to food contamination or sickness.

The Louisiana Department of Health inspects restaurants between one and four times annually.

We contacted the franchise operator at the Broad Street location. They stated they were not informed of a rodent issue and have no statement to provide for now.
