'Bachelor' Star Krystal Nielson Claims Uterus 'Exploded' During Childbirth

(NewsNation) — A former “BachelorA competitor is remembering a frightening experience she had during childbirth last year.

Krystal Nielson disclosed that heruterusshe gave birth to her second child, son Rowan, and suffered a rupture.

"I was dilating at 36 weeks," Nielson mentioned during a recent episode of the podcast "Almost Famous," explaining that she and her husband, Miles Bowles, who have a 4-year-old daughter named Andara, were aware their son would arrive prematurely.

"He planned to arrive early and come very quickly, as the second time tends to be much faster. Your body is aware of what to do," Nielson stated.

The "Bachelor Nation" star mentioned she was given medication to prepare her cervix, but complications arose, including a stuckFoley bulb— once helped to kickstart work — made work significantly harder. "Things really began to deteriorate."

Nielson added that when the obstetricianwent to check on her and turn her son, she lost consciousness.

"We aren't sure if her attempt to turn him led to my uterus rupturing or if it had already torn before, since my energy was declining rapidly and had been for some time," she stated.

Nielson had a cesarean section to give birth to Rowan and required additional surgery to fix her uterus.

"The surgeon explained to me that my uterus had ruptured — it wasn't just a neat cut, like when they make an incision — she described it as roadkill, something that had completely exploded," Nielson added.
