The 2025 Ford Maverick Unveils New Style and an AWD Hybrid Option!
Additionally, there are many new technologies available, and AWD hybrid models can haul as much as 4,000 pounds.

Ford doesn’t frequently miss an emerging trend, particularly in the truck segment. However, this is precisely what occurred when the New Ford Maverick compact pickup truck launched for the 2022 model year.
However, this mistake ultimately turned into an advantage: Americans were drawn to the appropriately sized small pickup in large numbers, something Ford hadn't anticipated. The vehicle's immense appeal led to the entire initial batch selling out even before any units reached dealerships. The firm has since worked hard to boost output, managing to sell almost the same amount of vehicles (90,000) during the first six months of 2024 as they did throughout all of 2023 (94,000). Still, most Mavrick models are sold before reaching a dealership, and the second-hand market is overflowing with two-year-old trucks being priced higher than brand-new ones. For those not looking to purchase a Maverick, it's quite the favorable situation.
Unsatisfied with just this achievement, Ford has launched the 2025 Maverick featuring numerous new enhancements and updates based on input from its initial half-million customers. Fortunately, the Maverick still offers the most affordable entry-level price among pickups available, although it’s not quite as inexpensive as before.

Hybrid Power Makes a Comeback as the Default Option; All-Wheel Drive Is Now Offered
Following three years since its release, Ford reports that the most common feedback from Maverick drivers has been for an all-wheel-drive hybrid option For 2025, that desire will come true. Found on XL, XLT, and Lariat models, the latest hybrid all-wheel drive system offers full-weather grip without compromising gas efficiency. The rear-wheel drive hybrid achieves an EPA rating of 42 miles per gallon in urban driving, with the manufacturer aiming for 40 mpg from its AWD variant. (It has already confirmed that the AWD hybrid will also achieve 40 mpg in the city.)
When Ford debuted the Maverick, its 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain was not only the cornerstone of the compact truck’s appeal but also standard. As demand for the fuel-efficient choice grew at an exponential rate, Ford quietly raised the price of the hybrid to match that of the premium 2.0-liter EcoBoost in 2023. By 2024 demand was still so great that Ford flipped the script entirely, making the EcoBoost standard and hybrid the premium upcharge powertrain.
For the delight of future Maverick buyers, Ford is shifting direction once more, bringing back the 2.5-liter hybrid as the base engine option throughout the range. Nevertheless, the cost has increased from a $1,500 premium in 2024 to an additional $2,375 for 2025.
The outputs remain identical to last year, except for one small change. This indicates that both FWD and AWD hybrid models produce 191 horsepower along with 155 pound-feet of torque, whereas the 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder Mavericks deliver 238 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. "Didn't the 2.0-liter engine provide 250 hp previously?" you might wonder. Well, somewhat. The engine continues to generate the same level of performance; however, the stated numbers have been adjusted to meet specific California emission standards. As a result, the figures may appear slightly lower, yet these vehicles should maintain similar speed capabilities as they did before.

Polished From the Outside In
In 2022, when the Maverick made its debut, the exteriors of all model versions appeared largely identical. Except for differences in wheels and a fender emblem, distinguishing between the entry-level XL and high-end Lariat trims proved challenging. For 2025, Ford addressed this issue by equipping every trim level with a distinct grille design. Additionally, the front bumper has undergone an update, alongside modifications to the vehicle's headlights. All variants come standard with dark-style LED headlamps, whereas upper-trim models feature LED projector units and additional lighting accents to enhance their luxurious appeal. The Lariat also now offers a new 19-inch wheel configuration.
The trim differentiation continues inside New hues and fabrics are featured throughout the doors, dashboard, center console, and seating areas. The orange highlights that were once seen on the XLT have now been swapped out for a Grabber Blue finish. The Lariat model introduces a Smoke Truffle design paired with bronze details. The Black Appearance Package, offered on both the XLT and Lariat trims, includes an exclusive grille, a black-accented roof, black Ford emblems, and distinctive 19-inch wheels.

More Standard Tech
A portion of the allure of the 2022 Maverick was being able to purchase it at an affordable cost without having to deal with the advanced technologies found in modern-day trucks. This situation remains mostly unchanged in 2025. Nevertheless, as the Maverick's popularity has increased, so too has the demand for more technological features among its buyers.
In 2025, the truck now features a bigger 13.2-inch infotainment screen as standard across all models, replacing the previous 8.0-inch unit. This updated display works alongside an 8.0-inch digital dashboard. The system uses Sync 4 and provides improved voice control along with integrated navigation. A newly added 5G module gives the Maverick access to cutting-edge connectivity options, such as remote software upgrades. It also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Another new feature is Ford's 360-degree camera system, which provides a split-screen view of what lies directly ahead or behind the vehicle, as well as side perspectives when crossing traffic. The Maverick still offers Ford’s CoPilot 360 set of driver-assistance technologies; but starting in 2025, every model includes standard features such as pre-crash assistance with automatic emergency braking, lane departure correction, a back-up camera, and automatic LED high beams. Lariat and Tremor trims include adaptive cruise control with city driving capability, lane positioning support, and speed limit detection.

Enhanced Towing Ability
Maverick has never participated in the towing competitions, yet it remains a significant feature since almost half of today's owners utilize their trucks for this purpose. The maximum towing capacities stay unchanged for 2025, as all Mavericks continue to offer... able to pull a 2,000-pound trailer . All-wheel-drive vehicles get an increase to 4,000 pounds when equipped with the optional 4K Tow package—which includes the newly introduced AWD hybrid model. The 4K Tow package features a trailer hitch, 7-pin wiring harness, braking control system, engine oil cooler, larger radiator, enhanced cooling fan, and reduced axle gear ratio. The maximum cargo load stays at 1,500 pounds across all models.
For 2025, Ford is expanding its innovative approach Pro Trailer Hitch Assist to the Maverick. The technology, first introduced on the F-150 Lightning and Super Duty trucks in 2023, functions by utilizing the rear camera and side radar sensors to position the hitch correctly with the trailer's coupling mechanism, all while managing the vehicle's speed, direction, and braking. The updated 2025 Maverick now includes the advantage of adding Pro Trailer Backup Assist . Both features will come as standard on Lariats and Tremors.

Tremor Is Self-Sufficient Tremor Functions Independently Tremor Operates Alone Tremor Exists By Itself Tremor Sustains Itself Tremor Acts on Its Own Tremor Stands Unaided Tremor Maintains Autonomy Tremor Is Autonomous Tremor Supports Itself
When Ford debuted the off-road-focused Maverick Tremor In 2023, this feature was available as an add-on package costing $3,495 in 2024 for EcoBoost-equipped, four-wheel-drive XLT and Lariat models. The package included an off-road optimized suspension system, a slight lift in ground clearance, front bumper guards, a dual-clutch rear axle with lock functionality, off-road driving settings, Trail Control technology, special 17-inch wheels, all-weather tires, and a full-sized spare wheel. Tremors also featured distinctive interior and exterior elements designed to highlight their tough, adventurous character.
The Tremor makes a comeback, but it's now a distinct trim option positioned higher than the Lariat in the model range. It still comes with all the off-road equipment, and Ford has introduced its 360-degree camera system along with a single-pedal driving mode. Unfortunately, this also means that you can no longer place an order for an inexpensive XLT Tremor which constitutes a genuine loss.
Finally, there's also a new athletic version known as Lobo. Learn everything about it right here—and check out its incredibly cool turbofan wheels .
