Rare Italians Queue for Belgian Broad Arrow Sale

The auction in Belgium includes items from Carlo Abarth’s collection 1955 207/A It was built upon a Fiat 1100 platform. Michelotti developed the aluminum body structure, while coachbuilder Boano shaped the panels. The 207/A was made for competition in the U.S., where it initially placed second in its category during the 12 Hours of Sebring, only to be later excluded due to a fuel-related issue.

Only ten 207/As were ever produced, and the vehicle currently up for sale was once owned by a French enthusiast. It is noted as "exquisitely restored yet maintaining an appealing aged interior." The car's competitive background remains undisclosed, though it qualifies for historic races, road tours, and show events. Broad Arrow predicts the Abarth might fetch between €250,000 and €350,000 ($289,000 to $404,000).
Even rarer is a 1963 O.S.C.A. 1600 GT2 a convertible that made its debut at the Turin Motor Show of that year. Maserati brothers Bindo, Ernesto, and Ettore established Officine Specializzate Costruzione Automobili — Fratelli Maserati S.p.A (O.S.C.A.) in 1947 following the sale of the business along with its family name to Adolfo Orsi in 1937. The company's 1600 GT proved to be its top-selling model, with over 120 units sold. Most of them were equipped with bodies from... Zagato with some vehicles featuring bodywork designed by Fissore and Touring. Nevertheless, just three 1600 GT models were produced as roadsters.
The body was created by Carrozzeria Fissore, and for this vehicle as well as another one, it was mounted onto a tubular steel frame. The engine comes from O.S.C.A.'s adaptation of Aurelio Lampredi's twin overhead valve 1.6-liter inline-four, which also appeared in the Fiat 1600S.
The vehicle underwent full restoration in 2012 and is projected to fetch between €200,000 and €300,000 ($231,000 to $347,000) when it goes up for auction during Zoute Grand Prix Car Week, held from October 8 to 10.
