Which Great Car Suffered From a Horrible Engine?

There are many subpar vehicles equipped with strong motors out there. We've even asked you all about them in earlier times, but what about the reverse? What about great vehicles with poor engines Certainly, there must be at least a few vehicles available that meet the criteria. This leads us to today's question.

I'd like to hear everyone's opinion on what they consider the finest example of a generally great car that suffers from a poor engine. Which vehicle would be almost flawless with a better powerplant beneath the hood? I won’t restrict your answers regarding what constitutes a “bad engine.” It can refer to various aspects—performance, dependability, driving experience. Whatever you have in mind is welcome. I’m not here to limit your imagination. Also, feel free to discuss an engine that many people admire and praise; that’s exactly what I’ve done here.

My Choice

I chose a more subtle option for this question. It's the 991-series Porsche 911 GT3. Introduced as brand new in 2014, the 3.8-liter horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine model MA1.75 appeared impressive on paper, making the GT3 a highly enjoyable vehicle to operate thanks to its distinctive exhaust sound, 475 horsepower output, and a 9,000-rpm rev limit. However, there was only one issue with it: The engine was a scorching, bubbling mess.

Every one of these engines suffered from a critical design error that caused the connecting rod bolts to break. Once those failed, the engine was essentially useless, serving only as a paperweight. In the most severe cases, they could even ignite. Fortunately for customers, Porsche acknowledged the issue and Each of these engines was replaced under warranty with improved, more dependable models. .
