A source tells Rolling Stone That leaving behind Scooter Braun and his group has been something Justin desired for many years, and now that he's completely independent, he can finally present this album to his fans and the global audience. It's something he've wished to accomplish for quite some time.

They also mentioned that "Experiencing complete artistic liberty is something relatively new for him as a musician. Without the pressure of crafting the ideal song or album, he managed to produce the finest collection of work he has ever created. He was free to express his genuine, real self without outside influences attempting to direct his path. This represents the most sincere musical expression we've witnessed from Justin yet. It marks the initial instance in Justin's professional journey where he had total control over his creativity, which explains the sincerity and openness evident in the music."

As for Scooter, he commended Justin's album on Instagram Stories, stating, "This is definitely the most genuinely Justin Bieber album yet." At the same time, Hailey Bieber appeared to subtly mock Scooter's comments, sharing a side-eye emoji photo on Instagram set to Mariah Carey's "Obsessed" shortly after his message.
