Rick Springfield Asks, "Am I Boring You?" After Host Yawns on 'Today Show'

Rising early to appear on morning television is consistently challenging for rock musicians accustomed to staying up late and sleeping in during the day. However, one might assume that TV experts, who are familiar with starting their day before sunrise, would find this easier.
At minimum, that's what the singer of "Jessie's Girl" said Rick Springfield appeared to believe when he stopped by during the third hour of the Today appear on Friday (July 11) to speak with hosts Al Roker, Craig Melvin, and Jill Martin about his new I Want My 80s concert series featuring John Waite, Wang Chung, Paul Young, and John Cafferty, which will begin on Friday (July 18).
When asked by Roker if he ever envisioned his famous track "Jessie's Girl" being played four decades later, Springfield modestly stated that the song had "developed a life of its own," pausing briefly as he seemed to observe co-host Melvin yawning while he spoke.
"Am I making you bored?" Springfield asked with a grin while reaching out to gently tap Melvin's leg. "Oh no, quite the opposite, I'm sorry," Melvin chuckled, causing Roker and Martin to burst into laughter over their colleague's mistake on morning television. "It's still early, so don't concern yourself with it. I'll start yawning soon enough," Springfield added with a laugh as Melvin endured a sudden bout of coughing.
Springfield demonstrated his sportsmanship following the event, Springfield proved himself to be a gracious competitor after the occurrence, Springfield displayed admirable composure in the aftermath of the situation, Springfield handled the episode with commendable grace, Springfield showed true sportsmanlike behavior after what happened, Springfield acted like a real team player after the incident, Springfield responded well to the circumstances with dignity, Springfield maintained a positive attitude despite the incident, Springfield exhibited excellent sports spirit after the event, Springfield behaved admirably following the mishap. posting a pic with the three hosts conveying the message, "Enjoyed being with the group at @todayshow this morning!"
The star, born in Australia, mentioned that he was a fan of all the bands performing in the 1980s, during the time he played a good-looking doctor on a daytime soap opera. General Hospital gaining a series of popular radio hits from his fifth studio album, 1981's Working Class Dog "And they're all wonderful individuals as well, making the time behind the scenes really enjoyable," he admitted, acknowledging that the excesses of the past have now been swapped for wholesome dinners and adequate rest.
The musician also discussed the hopeless quest for the genuine "Jessie's Girl," along with the head injury he sustained during a performance in Las Vegas in 2000 that resulted in... brain damage as well as his new part in Ryan Murphy's autumn show All's Fair in which he will appear with Glenn Close, Naomi Watts, Kim Kardashian, Teyana Taylor, Sarah Paulson, and Niecy Nash.
