New Devo Doc Drops on Netflix – Full Release Date Revealed for August

Spuds can rejoice.
Fans of Akron’s own Devo will get the opportunity to watch the latest documentary featuring the band while remaining inactive at home.
Netflix Has announced an August 19 release date for the 90-minute film focusing on the new-wave group that became most popular during the late 1970s and early 1980s, known for their yellow jump suits, red energy helmets, and plastic hair combs.
Supporters of the group are known as Spuds.
Director Chris Smith, known for his earlier works including a film available on Netflix “Tiger King” series and the Emmy-nominated “Fyre” and Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, was the driving force behind the 2024 documentary that gained attention at film festivals.
Gerald Casale and Mark Mothersbaugh created the artistic, unconventional band in 1972. The members also featured their siblings Bob Mothersbaugh and Bob Casale, along with Alan Myers.
Devo is most recognized for their 1980 hit "Whip It!" along with tracks such as "Jocko Homo," "Uncontrollable Urge," "Girl U Want," "Freedom of Choice," "Working in the Coal Mine," and "Beautiful World."
The group has received three nominations for the Hall of Fame for Rock and Roll but did not make the final selection.
Devo is scheduled to embark on an 11-city tour. fall concert tour With the B-52s featuring three original members such as Mark and Bob Mothersbaugh and Gerald Casale. There are no scheduled stops in Ohio.
