Bread from Walmart and Kroger Recalled Over Life-Threatening Allergen

Bread loaves available for purchase at Walmart and Kroger outlets are subject to recall as they might include "unlisted hazelnuts," according to an announcement from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Artisan-style half-loaf bread from Lewis Bake Shop, produced by Hartford Bakery Inc., has been taken off shelves from six impacted batch numbers.

Individuals who have a peanut allergy or extreme sensitivity to hazelnuts face the possibility of experiencing severe or potentially fatal reactions. allergic reactions "if they ingest these items," the FDA announcement stated.

The loaf was handed out to merchants in Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Arkansas, Missouri, Alabama, and Mississippi.

These identifiers can be located on the front panel of the packaging, which consists of a "flexible plastic bag."
