Big UK Music Festival Canceled After Headline Act Pulls Out Final Performance

UK music festival The BST Hyde Park has confirmed the cancelation of today's event after ELO decided to pull out because of medical concerns.

In a release, the event planners stated: "After learning about" Jeff Lynne ELO's performance at BST Hyde Park has been canceled due to health issues, making it impossible for them to take the stage on Sunday, 13 July.

Passengers who purchased tickets will receive refunds and be reached directly by their ticket vendor for additional information. Additionally, they have shared a website where individuals with tickets can apply for a refund.

Jeff Lynne was forced to postpone his planned BFT Hyde Park performance this weekend due to illness. The group supporting the 77-year-old musical legend had previously shared details about his ongoing health issues, which resulted in the cancellation of concerts in Manchester during the week.

In a release about his decision to step down, his group stated: "Jeff Lynne is deeply saddened to confirm that he won't be able to take the stage at tomorrow's BST Hyde Park event."

It added: "Jeff has been dealing with a widespread infection and is now being treated by a group of physicians who have told him that performing is not feasible right now, and he won't be able to rearrange his schedule."

Jeff's top priority right now is the band's heritage and his dedicated fanbase—although he deeply regrets not being able to take the stage, he understands that he needs to concentrate on his well-being and recovery at this moment.

The decision to cancel came after an incident on Friday when the event was cut short. Rock icon Neil Young exceeded the tight 10:30 p.m. deadline at London's Hyde Park following a long performance, leading organizers to step in.

The famous artist had planned to finish his show at 10:20 p.m. on Friday evening, as required by the strict time limit set for Royal Park.

Nevertheless, he appeared to ignore the regulations, extending his show beyond 10:32 PM. Young was in the middle of a long version of "Rockin' in the Free World" when his behavior led the festival organizers to intervene. A source stated, "Neil and his group were enjoying themselves immensely and would have continued playing."

At least three incorrect conclusions occurred during the song until event organizers deemed it sufficient, causing the music to gradually diminish. Neil and his band appeared somewhat confused, yet they maintain rigorous standards, particularly since it takes place in a royal park.

The Westminster Council maintains a rigid cutoff policy as one of its licensing requirements. Nevertheless, the group close to the entrance expressed disapproval when it was clear that the electricity had been turned off.

This hasn't been the only instance where supporters felt let down by an abrupt ending. Bruce Springsteen encountered a comparable issue in 2012.
