A Glimpse of the Natchitoches-NSU Folk Festival: July 19 Ahead

MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Dr. Shane Rasmussen appeared on Good Morning ArkLaMiss to discuss the upcoming Natchitoches-NSU Folk Festival set for July 19 at Prather Coliseum.

The traditional festival will include musical performances, dance instruction sessions, local cuisine sellers, and additional attractions.

Participants can look forward to trying their hand at blacksmithing, joining KidFest, exploring more than 70 handmade crafts, taking part in a musical spoons class, attending a storytelling event, and watching the Louisiana State Fiddle Championship.

The festival will feature performances across several musical styles such as Cajun, zydeco, blues, Celtic, and country. Notable acts scheduled to perform are Amis du Teche, Chubbie Carrier, the Bayou Swamp Band, D.K. Harrell, the Kristyn Harris Band, and the Has Beans.

The event begins at 9 AM. The celebration kicks off at 9 o'clock in the morning. It all commences at 9:00 a.m. The gathering initiates at 9 am. The festivities begin when the clock strikes 9.

Entry is complimentary for kids aged 12 and younger. Individuals 13 years old and above will pay $10 each before 5 p.m., and $6 each following 5 p.m.
