Triple H Views Heart Failure Scare as a "Gift" from the UK

Triple H views his heart failure as a "blessing."

The WWE executive – who goes by the name Paul Levesque – carries a defibrillator implanted in his chest nearly four years following a close brush with death due to viral pneumonia and a cardiac episode triggered by a genetic condition that came dangerously close to claiming his life.

During an interview with his wife Stephanie McMahon for her ESPN show 'Stephanie's Places,' he stated, "Oddly enough, my heart problem turned out to be a blessing."

It caused me to view things from a different perspective, to reconsider life.

Stephanie appeared clearly moved when she confessed that she had never heard him say that before.

He stated: "You could navigate your way through life—regardless of how wonderful it may be or all the activities you partake in—and essentially coast along without much thought."

Suddenly, halfway into it, you get a restart and think, 'Wow, this isn’t going on indefinitely.'

Levesque seemed overcome with emotion as Stephanie likewise struggled to hold back her tears when he took a coin from his pocket.

She was emotionally overwhelmed as she said to him, "I was just going to inquire about that myself."

He stated, "You handed it over to me. Remember you must die. At any moment, this could come to an end."

In essence, don’t get bogged down in all this nonsense. Life is incredibly transient, so everything can vanish in an instant.

Several months following his hospitalization, Levesque — who holds the position of Chief Content Officer at WWE and oversees their creative direction for shows like ‘Monday Night Raw’ and ‘SmackDown’ — announced he was retiring from in-ring competitions permanently.

In March 2022, he stated to ESPN’s 'First Take': “I will absolutely not step into the ring again. Primarily because I have an implanted defibrillator in my chest, and getting shocked during a public broadcast would likely be unwise.”

I suffered from viral pneumonia. My lungs became swollen, and over the following few days at home, my condition deteriorated further. When my spouse noticed blood mixed with what I was coughing up, she insisted I go get medical attention.

The athlete, who has won the world championship 14 times, was alerted by medical professionals that he was experiencing severe heart failure.

He stated, "I was plunging down and pretty much reached the one-yard line of not wanting to be there actually, considering my family and my future."
