Parkinson's Patients in UK Invited to Join New Local Exercise Classes in Westminster

Individuals residing in Westminster and nearby regions who have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s are encouraged to participate in two newly launched exercise programs designed to assist more residents in becoming active within their local communities.

‘Stronger My Way’, exercise classes take place every Monday from 3pm to 3.50pm at Moberly Sports Centre, 25 Chamberlayne Rd, NW10 3NB.

‘Strength in Motion’ exercise class takes place every Thursday at 2pm to 2.45pm at Little Venice Sports Centre, 10 Crompton St, London, W2 1ND.

Each session costs £1.45 per person and includes a mix of exercise and sporting activities which are aimed at enhancing strength, balance, posture and flexibility with a focus on improving functional skills.

The sessions have been created by Sport for Confidence (CIC) and are being delivered by experienced sports coaches and Occupational Therapists.

The sessions will include non-contact boxing exercises (based in Little Venice), chair-based yoga, weight training, mobility practices, along with using resistance bands for both stretching and muscle strengthening activities.

The session at Little Venice will be accessible for individuals with Parkinson’s who are in the early to middle phases. The class can be modified according to each participant's requirements. Additionally, exercises may include both standing and sitting variations.

Places for the upcoming sessions are restricted; therefore, those who wish to participate must proceed with the Sport for Confidence referral process via the website. www.sportforconfidence.com/referral/

The Stronger My Way exercise referral sessions cater to individuals of all age groups and skill levels, irrespective of their mobility or prior experience. Family members and caregivers are encouraged to join and assist the participants during these sessions.
