Stacey Takes the Lead for Alzheimer's Society

A tenant residing in supported accommodation in Runcorn has managed to raise more than £500 for Alzheimer’s Society through a sponsored walk.

Stacy Wood, aged 42, resides at Sanctuary Supported Living’s facility. Halton Road In Runcorn, where she offers lodging and assistance to individuals with learning disabilities, she recently finished an 8.5-mile sponsored walk from Colwyn Bay to Llandudnon. Having chosen Alzheimer’s Society as her charity of preference, and with backing from her family, friends, and nearby community, she managed to raise more than £500.

Along with receiving support from the Halton Road crew, Stacey had company during her challenge from both Laura, her neighbour on Halton Road, and their mutual pal Brian. Together, they encouraged her as she set off to gather donations and bring attention to her selected charity. Throughout her journey, Stacey captured significant landmarks such as the chapel situated in Rhos-on-Sea and the Little Orme near Llandudno, using these locations as markers at various points along her path.

This isn’t the first occasion where Stacey has taken steps to back a cause dear to her heart. Back in 2023, she joined forces with some buddies from Halton Road for a walk. Llandudno’s Great Orme trail To generate essential funding for her local theatre troupe and the registered charity, Victoria Music Ltd., she aimed to organise an event.

Emma Simpson, a project worker for Halton Road, stated: "Our entire team along with all the local residents feel incredibly proud of Stacey and we're delighted that she reached her objective. Collecting more than £500 is truly remarkable and this sum will significantly aid those affected by Alzheimer's, as well as their families."

By the time Stacey reached the end of her lengthy day, she was exhausted, yet she ensured she treated herself to some much-needed chips and curry sauce beside Llandudно pier!
