Gentle Giving: Support for Babies and Families in the UK

On Tuesday, May 6, Coventry Oddfellows presented a check for £821.91 to Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice.

Every year, the chairman of the Society chooses a charity for fundraising purposes. The former chairman, Tony Luckett, selected the Hospice last year. He commented: "Zoe’s Place offers an essential service to people in our community who are experiencing incredibly distressing and challenging times; therefore, I couldn’t imagine supporting anything else."

I am extremely proud to present this donation on behalf of all the members at Coventry Oddfellows.

Based in Ash Green, Zoe’s Place has been providing care for infants and young children up to the age of five for more than three decades. The organisation's website characterises the hospice as "a home away from home," emphasising how they encourage kids to engage in play, create cherished moments, and discover happiness regardless of their health status. Approximately eighty-five percent of the Hospice’s funds come from public donations, with these resources designated specifically towards purchasing a new specialized crib and upgrading medical facilities.

Becky Nash, who works as a Community Fundraiser at Zoe’s Place, stated: "I want to express our gratitude on behalf of all members of Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice to the Coventry Oddfellows for their generous contribution of £821.91." The support will enable us to offer round-the-clock care daily for babies and infants with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and we are immensely thankful."

Aside from charitable donations, Coventry Oddfellows organises various cost-effective and easy-to-access activities for their members within the area, available to everyone. Scheduled happenings encompass:

  • Coffee morning at Oddfellows House, CV1 3JH, on June 16 th @11am
  • Coffee morning at The Caffeine Project, CV3 2AZ on June 25 th @11am
  • Dinner at The Rose & Castle on July 3rd, postcode CV7 9HZ rd @7.30pm

Members of Oddfellows have access to an array of perks such as care and welfare assistance along with membership in a travel club, plus they can choose to engage in volunteering activities.
