Five-Vehicle Crash in Fairfield County Claims One Life

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - A single fatality was reported following a five-vehicle collision that occurred in Fairfield County on Friday, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The accident took place at noon on Friday along US Highway 21 in Fairfield County, close to Smith Lane. Five cars were involved: a 2007 Ford F-150, a 2025 Kia Sportage, a 2018 Lexus SUV, a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban, and a 2019 Hino 338 truck.
The Ford, Kia, and Lexus were heading south on US-21, while the Chevrolet and Hino were moving north along the road. The Chevrolet came to a stop due to traffic, causing the Hino to cross the center line and collide with the Ford.
The Ford's driver collided with the Kia directly in front of them, and then also crashed into the Lexus. Consequently, the Lexus struck the Chevrolet, while the Hino veered off the road, smashed several mailboxes, and eventually flipped over.
The Kia's driver was declared deceased at the location following injuries from the collision.
The authorities are still looking into the event.
