Two Injured After Car Crashes Into Building, Driver Fleeing in Cleveland

Cleveland, Ohio (WOIO) - Two individuals were taken to the hospital following a vehicle collision with a structure in Cleveland's Tremont area on Saturday afternoon.

As per the Cleveland Fire Department, at approximately 12:54 p.m., firefighters arrived at a location where a vehicle had collided with a structure close to Kenilworth Avenue and West 11th Street.

Law enforcement stated that the accident included three cars.

Firefighters reported no major injuries, and emergency medical services transported a 61-year-old and a 64-year-old to the hospital.

A individual ran away from the location and is believed to be the driver, according to Cleveland Fire to 19 News.

19 News has acquired surveillance footage showing the vehicle colliding with the Corner 11 Bowl & Wrap restaurant.

The intense video shows a burnt orange SUV following a collision with a van, completely destroying the back of the van. The SUV then narrowly avoids a car that is stopped at a stop sign on W. 11th and Kenilworth, before crashing into a barrier and a metal fence near a restaurant. The fence helped reduce the impact, and the restaurant experienced a broken window.

Niki Landis, a restaurant patron, was taken aback by the video showing two individuals on the sidewalk narrowly avoiding harm, "That was really close. I was quite surprised by the situation when we arrived. I'm glad the restaurant remained open."

As stated by the Cleveland Fire Department's Assistant Public Information Officer John Kearns, there was no significant structural harm to the building, and the teams resumed their duties following an evaluation and securing the area.

The Cleveland Police stated that the accident is being looked into.
