Trailer's Top Auction Last Year Wasn't a Car

  • A military tank headed the most popular auctions on Bring a Trailer.
  • The most expensive car of the year was the Ferrari LaFerrari.
  • Super luxury vehicles remained prevalent at the top end.

Long before Bring a Trailerbecame the preferred destination for numerous high-end dealers to resell exotic vehicles for significant profits, the auction site mainly featured unusual creations, rare classics, and cars favored by enthusiasts. Last year, one of these unique listings became the platform's most viewed.

And it was not a typical vehicle, nor even a motorcycle. It was a Leyland FV4201 Chieftain Main BattleTank. The late November auction, which was ranked based on a combination of views, comments, and bids, attracted almost 160,000 views and 423 comments before ultimately being sold for $107,000.

The FV4201 Chieftainwas mainly utilized by the UK from the late 1960s until the 1990s. This particular model was painted in olive drab and black and featured a working rotating turret, a 120 mm cannon, and a fully equipped cockpit that could accommodate a crew of four. Naturally, the tank isn't capable of being driven on roads, but someone clearly enjoyed investing a significant amount in it.

And if you believe that was a unique instance of online chaos, reconsider. The second most-watched auction on Bring a Trailer in 2025 wasanother tank, this time a 1962 Centurion MK 13. It was sold for $130,000 to a fanYouTuber Westen Champlin, who owns a vast estate where he can truly drive the animal.

BaT’s Most Popular Cars

In terms of automobiles, it appears that BaT's audience has a strong preference for low-mileage Acuras and Porsches that have been restored by Singer. The third most-watched auction featured a silver Singer DLS that fetched $3 million, having only 18 miles displayed on the speedometer.

A 2001 Acura Integra Type R sparked numerous discussions, resulting in 554 comments before being sold for an impressive $204,204. A different Singer DLS, painted blue, completed the top five most viewed auctions.

Regarding direct monetary value, the top sale of the year was a 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari fetching $4,475,000. This surpassed a 2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport sold for $4 million and a 2019 Chiron Sport that reached $3,185,333.

The top five included a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach Package priced at $3,112,000. Altogether, 48 vehicles exceeded the seven-figure mark throughout the year.

Not only was it a standout year for high-profile sales, but it also set a new benchmark for the platform. Bring a Trailer facilitated the sale of over $1.7 billion in vehicles, motorcycles, parts, and collectibles in 2025, achieving its fourth straight year surpassing the $1 billion threshold.
