The Band Perry Returns as 'You Lie' Surges Again

They're not exactly the Band Perry you once knew, but they're still the Band Perry. And they're officiallyback.

The group, which originally included three Perry siblings, is now composed of Kimberly Perry and her husband, Johnny Costello, operating under the TBP name. They have returned to country radio with their first single in nine years, "Psychological," which has already become a hit among radio station programmers (according to a press release, the song was the No. 1 most-added new song this week).

They're experiencing a small revival on TikTok as well: Their 2011 hit "You Lie" is gaining momentum as aviral sound trend, with creators building on the humorous, fiery lyrics about a woman betrayed by her dishonest, cheating partner.

That's not my perfume / I'll bet she had a curfew / You said you were with the guys and baby, I believed you / So why are you looking so nervous / You know you're going to get this / I should kill you right now and do the whole world a favor.

Maybe people are reminiscing about 2000s country music, or feeling a bit resentful about former relationships? Even Kimberly was eager to join in on the fun:

What became of The Band Perry?

Kimberly, along with her brothers Neil and Reid Perry, has been creating music together since they were young. However, in recent years, the guys have stepped away from the band and pursued individual projects. Neil previously tried his hand at photography.bouncing back to music, this time as an independent artist, while Reid has moved into a new aspect of the music industry: Management.

"For me, it has always been and will continue to be about creating exceptional country music, for and with the hardworking individuals who cherish and embrace it," Reid wrote in asocial media post from last fall, announcing his exit from The Band Perry. "Thank you for every memory."

Kimberly married Johnny Costello in 2021 and started a low-key solo career in 2023, the same year TBP announced they would take a break. That August, she and Johnny welcomed their first child together. Life kept happening, but the passion for music resurfaced, leading The Band Perry to re-emerge in 2025 with a new record deal and a significant change in their lineup: Kimberly's husband Johnny replacing her brother Neil. A year later, Reid also left, but the band, still connected by family ties, is moving forward full speed into what they're referring to as "Season 2."

The group's most significant hit was and continues to be their 2010 single from their first album, "If I Die Young."

Kimberly is thrilled by the initial fan reaction to "Psychological" and appears energized about what's ahead.
