Second measles case confirmed in Madison

Health authorities in Dane County are looking into the situation after a visitor from another state, who was staying at a hotel in Madison, tested positive for measles.

As per Public Health Madison & Dane County, individuals who were at the Holiday Inn Express located on High Crossing Boulevard between 12:01 a.m. and noon on Friday, February 6, could have come into contact with the highly contagious virus.

This occurs several weeks after aA student from the University of Wisconsin-Madison was found to have measles.. Authorities stated that the two cases are unrelated.

According to health authorities, symptoms would not appear immediately. An individual who was exposed on February 6 might start showing signs between February 13 and February 27. The county recommended that anyone who had been exposed and is unvaccinated should isolate until February 27.
