In 2025, there were reports of drivers in Connecticut and Tennessee experiencing serious engine problems after purchasing fuel. One driver in Connecticut was reportedly charged $17,000 to repair their BMW after a gas station allegedly mixed diesel fuel into the premium gas storage tank. In Tennessee, a gas station in Memphis sold premium gasoline that was contaminated with water, resulting in one car owner facing a repair bill exceeding $1,000.

It's unnecessary to spend extra on premium gasoline if it's not required.

Even if you purchase premium gasoline and get the right product, it may not affect your vehicle's performance.
