Experiencing the loss of a loved one is devastating, but witnessing their death in a violent manner is even more painful. Jackie Kennedy, the former first lady, was seated beside her husband, John F. Kennedy, when he was fatally shot by Lee Harvey Oswald in Dallas, Texas, in 1963. Oswald fired at JFK, striking him in the neck and head, which led to the death of the 35th president of the United States.

Fortunately, Jackie remained physically unharmed, but her husband's body was in her arms. Jackie was naturally confused and frightened, shouting, "They shot his head off! I love you, Jack." These were reportedly her final words to her husband, as mentioned in the docuseries "JFK: One Day in America" (viaPeople). However, there is some discussion about what Jackie's last words truly were. According to Christopher Andersen's book, "These Few Precious Days," Jackie's last words were, "Jack, Jack, Jack, can you hear me? I love you, Jack. I love you" (viaThe Mirror).

Unsurprisingly, Jackie was never the same following JFK's death., but she was dedicated to raising her two children. Honoring her husband's legacy andRemaining a mother was still very significant.to her, demonstrating how significant her family was to her. Despiteall of JFK's alleged lovers all of JFK's reported mistresses all of JFK's rumored romantic partners all of JFK's supposed romantic involvements all of JFK's alleged affairs all of JFK's claimed mistresses all of JFK's supposed female companions all of JFK's reported romantic relationships all of JFK's supposed love interests all of JFK's alleged paramours, her last words to him were filled with affection.

The last words of JFK were not as poetic

Although Jackie Kennedy's last words to her husband were tender but heartbreaking, John F. Kennedy's final message to her did not convey the same emotion. This is not unexpected because JFK was unaware that he was about to be assassinated. It is said that JFK was in the middle of a conversation when Lee Harvey Oswald fired the shot.

He was engaging in casual conversation with Jackie and the other couple in the vehicle — Texas Governor John Connally and his wife, Nelly Connally. The president said (viaReader's Digest), "No, you certainly can't," in reply to Nelly's statement, "You certainly can't say that the people of Dallas haven't given you a warm welcome." Shortly after he responded, JFK was shot. The Texas governor was also injured, but he lived.

The reason JFK was in Texas on that day, in part, was to gain an early advantage in his campaign for a second term as president. He was aware of a conflict within the party in Texas that could jeopardize his re-election, so he aimed to address the issue. At the time of his assassination, the president was looking ahead and having a conversation. He had no idea it would be his final opportunity to speak with Jackie.
