How Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's Style Inspired Sarah Pidgeon's Love Story Role
FX's Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessettehas made a significant impact on the streaming scene with its leading actressSarah Pidgeon, who portrays Bessette, is in charge.
Speaking to Peoplein a conversation featured inSaturday, February 21, Pidgeon, 29, shares her insights on how Bessette's style impacted her depiction of the renowned fashion figure.
"She was a private individual until she became involved with John [and was thrust into] the spotlight. So I believe her clothing really helped shape the character," Pidgeon explains, referring to Bessette's fast-paced relationship with John F. Kennedy Jr.
My favorite items were the[Yohji] Yamamotoitems she wore. And I'm not certain if she realized this, but Yamamoto explains that creating clothing is like designing armor for women," theWilds actress continued.
"I believe that understanding— or at least how I see her connection to the media— she was very private, so it all made a lot of sense, and you could sense it when you wore the clothes. It makes you stand differently, and it kind of supports and shields you," Pidgeon added.
Although Pidgeon and Bessette certainly resemble each other because of their hair and makeup, the former mentioned that in the end, it was the costume that "felt truly changing."
Kennedy and Bessette started their relationship in 1994 when the latter was working as a publicist for Calvin Klein. They became engaged in 1995 and tied the knot on September 21, 1996. Throughout their relationship, they faced intense media attention, as they were frequently photographed by photographers.
Their romantic tale ended in tragedy on July 16, 1999, when Bessette and Kennedy perished in a plane crash near Martha’s Vineyard.
