Glasner confirms Mateta's knee surgery decision following failed January move
Jean-Philippe Matetawill not have surgery on the knee injury that led to his move to AC Milan falling through,Oliver Glasner has confirmed.
Crystal Palacereached a deal with the Italian team to sell the forward,but the plan fell apart after his medical examination showed a knee injurywhich was thought to necessitate an operation.
Right-back Daniel Munoz underwent surgery for a comparable injury in December and was out for approximately six weeks.
Mateta has now gone back to Palacebut has not participated since the transfer window closed while the club works to finalize a treatment plan.
The athlete is believed to be determined to play for France in this summer's World Cup and now has a race against time to recover fully.
Glasner has recently verified that they have opted not to proceed with surgery for Mateta, although he will still be out for approximately a month.

Glasner added, recognizing that losing Mateta for an extended period would be a significant setback.

He will undergo the next phase of rehabilitation at the training facility, and he is eager to return as soon as possible to help achieve our objectives. That's his attitude, and I believe that's the best he can do.
Regarding Mateta's unsuccessful transfer to Milan, Glasner said, "It was a letdown, but he is focused on the coming months. It's beneficial for him that a final decision has been made."
Of course, in the end, he made the final decision based on the advice from specialists and the medical team, so they will handle the rehabilitation at the training facility.
