Formula 1's 2026 Season Hits IMAX Near You

Formula 1 is the premier platform in the realm of motorsports. It's only appropriate that the series will soon offer its fans an opportunity to witness Grand Prix on the biggest screen available. Thanks to a partnership withthe sport's new American broadcaster, Apple TV, a limited number of 2026 Formula 1 World Championship tickets are now availablerelated to performing live on over 50 IMAX screens across the United States.

The choice to project the races onto the large screen follows Imax and Apple's partnership onthe Brad Pitt-starring F1: The Movie, which was filmed entirely using Imax-approved digital cameras under the direction ofTop Gun: Maverickdirector Joseph Kosinski. The movie succeeded in generating public enthusiasm in a manner that racing typically does not, earning a total of $654 million worldwide at the box office— and almost $100 million of that came exclusively from Imax screens. Given the sport's increasing popularity in the United States, it appears to be an ideal time for such a partnership. (The fact that the film wasgreen-lit for a sequel probably doesn't hurt either.)

Apple TV and Joe Kosinski's outstanding F1: The MovieProven beyond any doubt, the speed, accuracy, and creativity of Formula 1 shine exceptionally well on the Imax screen," said Jonathan Fischer, Imax's chief content officer, in a statement. "As we keep broadening our worldwide content collection with breathtaking experiences, we are excited to collaborate with Apple to enhance its live broadcasting of Formula 1 and offer fans in the U.S. a brand-new method to engage with this rapidly expanding sport.

Apple TV and Imax currently intend to broadcast five significant Grand Prix events from the 2026 schedule:

  • The Miami Grand Prix (May 3rd)
  • The Monaco Grand Prix (June 7th)
  • The British Grand Prix (July 5th)
  • The Italian Grand Prix (September 6th)
  • The United States Grand Prix (October 25th)

The exact list of theaters showing the race will be announced this spring, Imax states, withit being available upon announcement at imax.com/f1.

It's not surprising that two of these events occur here in the United States, considering the American viewership, but there are other circuits that could result in a more impressive outcome. Still, we're looking forward to seeing Formula One on the big (or biggest) screen throughout the year. Which of the available races do you believe will offer the best viewing experience?
