FDOT Closes Multiple Lanes in North-Central Florida This Week

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Motorists throughout North-Central Florida are advised to expect traffic delays as the Florida Department of Transportation reports several road and lane closures scheduled between February 21 and February 27.

Here is the most recent information regarding expected road closures for the week ahead.

Alachua County:

  • East University Boulevard (State Road 26) near Northeast Ninth Street: Temporary westbound traffic restrictions on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. due to utility maintenance.
  • I-75 near County Road 236: Southbound exit ramp will be closed during the night on Wednesday and Thursday from 10 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. for construction activities.
  • I-75 near Newberry Road (State Road 26): Northbound lanes will be closed on Sunday from 9:30 p.m. until 4:30 a.m. for regular overpass maintenance.
  • I-75 near Northwest 39th Avenue: The exit ramp will be closed during nighttime hours on Wednesday and Thursday, from 1:30 a.m. to 6 a.m., due to construction activities.
  • I-75 near U.S. 441: Southbound entrance ramp closed at night: Wednesday and Thursday from 11:30 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. due to construction.
  • Martin Luther King Boulevard/Northeast Santa Fe Boulevard (State Road 20) (U.S. 441) (U.S. 41) between Northwest 203rd Avenue and Northwest 231st Street: Temporary lane restrictions during business days from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. for sidewalk improvements.
  • Northeast Waldo Road (State Road 24), between University Avenue (State Road 26) and Northeast 31st Avenue: Temporary lane closures at night from Sunday to Thursday, starting at 8 p.m. until 6:30 a.m., due to ongoing construction.
  • Northwest 39th Avenue (State Road 222) between Northwest Sixth Street and Northeast Second Street: Temporary lane closures during the day on weekdays from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. for roadside maintenance.
  • Northwest 39th Avenue (State Road 222) between Northwest 40th Terrace and Northwest 24th Boulevard: Temporary lane closures at night from Sunday to Thursday, from 8 p.m. until 6:30 a.m., for the purpose of adding road markings.
  • Northwest 39th Avenue (State Road 222) between Northwest 44th Terrace and Northwest 92nd Court: Nighttime lane restrictions will be in place Sunday through Thursday from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. to apply road markings.
  • Southwest 16th Avenue (State Road 24A) (State Road 226) near Southwest 16th Street: Temporary lane restrictions during business hours, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on weekdays for concrete-related activities.
  • Hatchet Creek's State Road 26: Daytime lane restrictions on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. due to bridge work.
  • U.S. 301 between Southeast Hawthorne Road/Northeast Sixth Avenue (State Road 20) and State Road 26: Daytime lane restrictions will be in place from Monday to March 1, from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m., due to construction activities.
  • West Newberry Road (State Road 26) between Northwest 143rd Street (County Road 241) and I-75 (State Road 93): Nighttime lane restrictions are in place Sunday through Thursday from 8:30 p.m. until 7 a.m. due to construction activities.

Bradford County:

  • State Road 16 between the Starke Truck Route and the Union County Border: Temporary lane closures during daytime hours on weekdays, from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m., due to construction activities.
  • State Road 16 between Temple Avenue and the Clay County border: Temporary lane closures during the day on Wednesday from 8 AM until 6 PM due to construction activities.
  • U.S. 301 (State Road 200) near Navarre Street (County Road 18): Temporary lane restrictions on weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. due to sidewalk construction.
  • West Brownlee Street/Raiford Road (State Road 16) between State Road 200 (U.S. 301) and State Road 223 (Alternate U.S. 301): Temporary lane closures during business hours, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., on weekdays to apply road markings.

Columbia County:

  • I-75 near County Road 341: Southbound lanes will be closed at night on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9:30 p.m. until 4:30 a.m. for regular overpass maintenance.
  • I-75 near U.S. 90: Southbound lane closed overnight on Monday from 9:30 PM until 4:30 AM for regular overpass maintenance.
  • State Road 47 between Clay Hole Creek and Southwest Main Boulevard will have daytime lane restrictions on Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. due to construction activities.
  • State Road 51 at Hal Adams Bridge: Temporary lane closures during daylight hours from Monday until February 28 for bridge maintenance work.
  • U.S. 41 near Howell Road: Temporary lane restrictions during business hours, Monday through Friday, for adjustments to traffic signals.

Gilchrist County:

  • State Road 26 between First Street in Trenton and west of the Alachua County border will have nighttime lane closures from Sunday to Friday, starting at 6:30 p.m. and ending at 6:30 a.m. due to ongoing construction.

Levy County:

  • U.S. 19 (State Road 55) near State Road 121 and Southeast County Road 336: Ongoing lane restrictions due to construction activities.

Drivers are advised to reduce their speed in construction areas and stay attentive to workers and shifting traffic conditions.
