Eric Dane's Girlfriend Shares Heartfelt Memories After His Passing

Eric Dane's partner, Janell Shirtcliff, has finally spoken out several days after the actorpassed away.

On Saturday (February 21), Shirtcliff posted a series of memories on her Instagram Stories that provided a glimpse into her quiet relationship with Dane, including a black-and-white photo of Dane getting a tattoo on his left arm and a snap of him kissing the side of her head.

In a charming scene featuring Dane with one of her children, the actor took a photo while Shirtcliff's daughter guided him on how to pose for a pictureshoot. "I want you to look over there at mom," said Shirtcliff's daughter before telling Dane to "smile."

Dane and Shirtcliff made their relationship public in June — only two months after he shared his devastating ALS diagnosis with the world. At that time, a source claimed they had been "in an on-and-off relationship for more than three years" and that they had "deep feelings for one another."

"Eric requested that Janell be present for him during this period, and she wished to be there for him," the source said, according toEntertainment Tonight.

The performer was officially married to Rebecca Gayheart when he passed away.

Eric passed away on February 19, ten months following his announcement of an ALS diagnosis. "Throughout his battle with ALS, Eric became a strong advocate for awareness and research, committed to making an impact for others dealing with the same challenge," shared the actor's family in a statement. "He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always. Eric cherished his fans and is forever thankful for the overwhelming love and support he has received. The family has requested privacy as they cope with this unimaginable loss."

In his last interview recorded prior to his passing, Dane shared four key lessons he gained from his illness with his daughters: understanding that "the present is all you have," seeking love in their lives, "finding your people and letting them find you," and realizing they could overcome anything.
