India U19 Tour of Australia Squad Revealed: Suryavanshi Stars, Mhatre Retains Captaincy

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has revealed the newest team selection for India's U-19 squad, preparing for their upcoming trip to Australia this year. A batsman from Mumbai Ayush Mhatre remains responsible for leading the ODI and Test squads, as a 14-year-old rising star emerges Vaibhav Suryavanshi Continues to be the main attraction, and will have the opportunity to demonstrate his skills on Australian fields.
The central part of the team that excelled during their trip to England this summer continues to be anchored by the energetic pair of Mhatre and Suryavanshi, along with vice-captain Vihaan Malhotra, key player Abhigyan Kundu who wields the gloves, and versatile all-rounder RS Ambrish.

India is scheduled to play three Youth One Day Internationals, with the opening game starting on September 21. All three matches in the series will be held at the Ian Healy Oval in Brisbane, along with the first of two Youth Test matches. The second game in the Youth Test series, which consists of four-day innings, will be hosted at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay.
Suryavanshi has previously experienced victory over the Australian team, scoring a 58-ball century in the Youth Test held in Chennai back in 2024, showcasing his usual aggressive and dynamic approach. Nonetheless, he aims to demonstrate his capabilities in traditional cricket following two unremarkable performances during his recent trip to England.
Nevertheless, Suryavanshi was the leading scorer and performing exceptionally well in the Youth One Day Internationals, finishing as the highest run-getter in the five-game series when India U19 secured the series victory with a score of 3-2. Meanwhile, Mhatre topped the scoring charts in the two Test matches with an impressive total of 340 runs, as both games concluded in closely fought draws. The batsman, who currently plays for Mumbai at the senior level in domestic cricket, will continue to hold his captaincy responsibilities.
