Driver Ejected and Run Over in I-94 Crash
A man was thrown out of a vehicle, struck, and severely hurt in an accident on I-94 in Detroit, according to Michigan State Police.
A report regarding the solo vehicle, roll-over accident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Detroit Regional Communications Center.
Upon arriving at the location, officers discovered the damaged Dodge Magnum was obstructing the right and middle lanes of westbound I-94 close to Concord Avenue. The car was engulfed in flames, with the Detroit Fire Department present. The 23-year-old operator, who wasn't using a seatbelt, had been ejected onto the right lane.
Officers concluded that the Dodge Magnum veered off the road to the right, climbed the slope, rolled back down onto the highway, and subsequently ignited.
Eyewitnesses also reported to police that the driver was subsequently struck by a moving car, potentially a red Ford Escape.
The operator was taken to a nearby medical facility, with injuries classified as critical.
