Community Grieves Lost Mentor and Inspiration

MOREHEAD, Ky. (WSAZ) - Relatives, friends, and the broader community of Morehead, KY, are grieving the passing of an outstanding individual within their area's athletic circle.

Don Hardin died last weekend as a result of multiple medical issues.

Hardin worked as a teacher in Fleming County for over four decades, during which time he also served as a football coach.

Hardin is recognized for establishing American Legion baseball during the 1960s.

He also launched a gymnastics initiative that continues to this day.

People who were familiar with him mentioned that they feel calm realizing his influence will affect future generations.

Hardin's visit will take place on Friday, August 8th, between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM at Northcutt Funeral Home.

His popularity is such that there will be a second viewing on August 9th, from 11:30 AM to 1 PM at the Flemingsburg High School gym, followed by his funeral.
