Richard Dreyfuss Pulls Out of SharkCon Over Health Concerns

Actor Richard Dreyfuss from "Jaws" was unable to attend SharkCon because of medical reasons.

Dreyfuss showed up in an Instagram video wrapped in a blanket featuring "Jaws 50," celebrating the movie's 50th anniversary this year. He mentioned that he had been diagnosed with a virus. His wife, Svetlana Erokhin, who wasn't visible on camera, explained that it was viral bronchitis. Variety reported.
He mentioned that his physicians recommended against flying and noted that the trip would have taken five hours.
SharkCon was taking place in Tampa, Florida, during the weekend and was organized by National Geographic, as reported People magazine.
Dreyfuss was part of the group responsible for tracking the shark in the 1975 movie. He played the role of Matt Hooper, an oceanographer and specialist in sharks.
AMC Theatres will feature the original "Jaws" screening on the large movie screen on August 29, Deadline reported.
