The vibrant culture thrives at the center of the capital as the Faneromeni25 Arts Festival keeps offering complimentary shows and movie nights in a cherished garden. Each summer, the courtyard of the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation becomes a hub for artistic events, with an upcoming highlight being the music and dance production Katharsis.
Hosted by the group Ogmios on Thursday, the show draws inspiration from the connection between historical events and mythical stories. It serves as an extension of the play "Ogmios Slays Gargantuan at Golgoi," featuring spoken word elements along with musical pieces from the Mediterranean region. giving form to remarkable legends concerning the god Ogmios.
In this latest presentation, Ogmios undergoes an exorcism, where movement and lighting contribute to the story, offering a fresh layer to the overall encounter. This show fits within the realm of musical, choreographic, and opera-based entertainment, distinguished by its bold creativity. It blends components of rock, modern classical, and electronic genres. while integrating complex rhythmic patterns and ambient vocal elements.
Andy Skordis and Panagiotis Minas craft an auditory environment using drums, guitar, voice, and electronic elements, as performers Melissa Konstantinidis Garo and Ioli Kaskani introduce the somber essence of the show onto the stage, blurring the lines between the audience and the act.
Katharsis
