Maserati MC20 Unveils New Identity as MCPura for 2026 Makeover

  • The 2026 Maserati MCPura and MCPura Cielo, formerly called the MC20, will make their debut at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed (July 10–13) in the UK.
  • Maserati's supercar has undergone minor modifications, including redesigned front and rear bumpers as well as updated seating arrangements.
  • The engine remains the same, featuring a twin-turbocharged V-6 that continues to deliver 621 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque.

Four years after its release, Maserati's sleek mid-engine supercar, the MC20 is prepared for a makeover. Although the updates for 2026 are minimal, Maserati has introduced a fresh name for this sleek coupé during its mid-life upgrade, calling it the MCPura. Maserati will still provide both a coupé and a Cielo convertibile version, with the 2026 MCPura featuring updated front and rear bumpers, additional color options, and a more detailed seating arrangement.

The MCPura retains the sleek, flowing lines of the MC20, with key modifications focused on the front and back grilles. The radiator grille has become more triangular rather than oval, featuring a bolder downward extension from the primary structure. The front lip has also been adjusted, and the vents beneath the lights are now more square-shaped. The rear bumper boasts a more defined appearance yet maintains similar contours to previous models.

Maserati unveiled the latest MCPura model available in AI Aqua Rainbow, featuring a matte texture on the coupé version and a shiny appearance for the Cielo variant. This particular shade of blue shifts under sunlight, revealing glimpses of different hues based on the viewing angle. In addition, Maserati is introducing three new color options for the MCPura: Devil Orange, Verde Royale, and Night Interaction.

The external emblems feature a fresh coating. The Trident symbols located in the grille and on the C-pillar, along with the "MCPura" wording on either side of the vehicle and the insignias on the hubcaps, display a pink hue mixed with blue mica particles. These emblem details are shiny on the coupé and flat on the convertibles, matching the respective bodywork finishes.

Within, the seating now includes laser-engraved Alcantara fabric, producing varied vertical patterns that mimic tire tracks. Maserati states that these updated seat designs have a dual-layered back featuring shimmering red with blue and shimmering blue with red, where the laser engraving creates a 3D, multi-tiered appearance. Apart from this, the interior of the MCPura remains largely similar to that of the MC20.

The powertrain is identical to the MC20, with the MCPura maintaining the 621-horsepower twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter "Nettuno" V-6 engine. The torque level stays at 538 pound-feet, and the engine delivers power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Maserati states that the coupe can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 2.9 seconds and reach a maximum speed exceeding 202 mph. Car and Driver testing, A 2022 MC20 required 3.2 seconds To achieve 60 mph. The MC20 had a weight of 3757 pounds; Maserati states the dry curb weight as 3043 pounds for the MCPura coupé.

Similar to the MC20, the MCPura boasts striking butterfly doors, and on the Cielo variant, includes an electrochromatic sliding glass roof that transitions from transparent to tinted with just a touch of a button. Production of the MCPura will start during the third quarter of 2025 at Maserati’s facility in Modena, Italy, with availability in the U.S. set to commence in December. Although pricing details will be announced nearer to the release date, it is anticipated that the cost will see a minor increase over the present base prices: $242,995 for the coupé model and $276,995 for the Cielo version.
