Letters to the Editor: Should Rebuilding Homes After Fires Use PCH Space?

To the editor Whenever I look at pictures of the Pacific Coast Highway, I can't help but question why the state is permitting reconstruction in this region. L.A. has never faced such a large amount of loss. It's difficult and emotional to assess how things have improved six months following the wildfires, July 10). Houses face risks from landslides and require barriers to prevent ocean encroachment. We understand that another natural catastrophe is inevitable, and we will bear the cost in both human casualties and public funds.

I can come up with three improved ways to utilize the land. First and foremost, offer California residents additional shoreline access. Secondly, increase parking availability and enhance safety along PCH. The coastlines belong to everyone.
