How Many Days Young Americans Feel Overwhelmed Every Month

Many young Americans find life to be stressful, not only occasionally, but for more than half of each month, as indicated by a recent study.

A recent nationwide poll reveals that members of Generation Z and millennials experience feelings of being overwhelmed for an average of 17 days each month. Gen Z generally includes people born from 1997 to 2012, placing their ages around 13 to 28 years old.

The stress is mounting from every direction. Over four out of five individuals report feeling pressured by their social interactions (88 percent), online activities (83 percent), and their everyday eating habits (81 percent).

Carried out by Talker Research for Califia Farms, the research surveyed 2,000 U.S. adults, examining everyday stresses, daily routines, and health tendencies. The results reveal a generation weighed down by mental exhaustion and ongoing information overload.

In terms of social interactions, 38% reported that keeping up with relationships is exhausting, while 32% found it difficult to make time for hanging out with friends. In digital aspects, prolonged use of screens (42%) and social media platforms (35%) were identified as major causes.

In terms of food, 45 percent reported finding it challenging to select nutritious meals. Shopping at grocery stores (40 percent), preparing dishes (33 percent), and examining product labels (23 percent) were also cited as difficult tasks.

Over six out of ten individuals have adopted a "less is more" way of living, with 46% reporting that they're streamlining their everyday activities and 39% incorporating this philosophy into their home environments.

That straightforward approach is proving beneficial. Participants mentioned that simplifying their lives has contributed to feeling more calm (45 percent), less stressed (41 percent), and also enhanced their psychological well-being (37 percent).

Three out of every four participants reported altering their dietary routines over the last year to promote improved well-being, with 74% indicating that "simple ingredients" play a significant role in their choices for food or drinks.
